Digital Responsibility and Ethical Business Practice

A global information crisis, characterised by confusion, cynicism, fragmentation, irresponsibility and apathy threatens to undermine the economic and social promise of digitalisation. This includes the spread of harmful and illegal content such as hate speech, disinformation, child abuse images, incitement of terrorism and self-harm.

How can a new wave of corporate ambition be shaped to ensure that the next 20 years of digital development are more beneficial to people and society than the last 20 have been?

Join a select group of influential people who will come together in person at the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland to help answer this question.
Tues 9 - Fri 12 May 2023  New dates to be confirmed

As the holder of UN Habitat Best Practice designation, Findhorn International Centre for Sustainability (FICS) is an ideal place to not only dream dreams, but to plan how to make them a reality.

We view FICS as the ‘alternative Davos’ providing a holistic, human worldview that stops institutional truths from eclipsing individual truth."

Around the world, lawmakers are grappling with how to make digital spaces safer and fairer. The EU Digital Services Act as well as the UK’s Online Safety Bill will update the transatlantic regulatory environment for Internet services. Whilst changes to the legal frameworks are important, ethical business practice, organisational culture and corporate purpose may be the most effective drivers of change.

To resolve the crisis and realise the full potential of digitalisation for people and society, a new wave of understanding, commitment and collaboration between business leaders,  shareholders, researchers and civil society groups is now required. Developing, sustaining and demonstrating ethical business cultures may become a key aspect of corporate compliance, of interest to business leaders, investors and citizens alike.

The event will be participant-led to enable the right dialogues to happen at the right time. As a meeting of expert peers the intention is for participants, supported by expert facilitation, to create content and lead sessions that enable us to:

  • imagine the world in 2040
  • scope Corporate Digital Responsibility
  • map today’s Digital Risk landscape
  • identify the challenges
  • assess the goals
  • build solidarity
